This means all acspects of life, by pointing the way to God, a career, a moral lifestyle, etc. When a rock is shot from a sling, it is shot at a target. likewise, the direction which a parents points out to his children must be at a target. This target is always obedience to God.

All these messages and their "revelations" seem to come forth as easy as a hard squeezing old constipated cow that had been chewing too long on dried up Yucca plants and drinking too little water.<G> Do you think that these ancient righteous fellows could have removed the wooden stakes from out of their underwear just long enough to lighten up and speak a little more plainly , eloquently and simply? I am sure that the message from God was just a tiny bit more simple and direct than all this, Abraham ...or no Abraham. If this is holy scripture , it reads like some rigid morbid clanging mess of revisionists clashings..... endlessly over who is the most righteous kid on the playground. Sorry , but easy to imagine with all this heavily draped wordage , that so many have to fight hard to accept some common meanings significant to the common good of all out of it. These men were really so extremely self-absorbed to have reached some incredibly far off spaces and peaks irrelevant and unknown to any who live in today's world . No wonder the world is so in love with Soap Operas and drama Stars...<G> ;-)
