I knew this administration would suck, but who would have dreamed that it would have sucked this bad--especially given the fact that he didn't even win the popular vote, and had to rely on an egregiously biased decision by the Republican-appointed Supreme Court to place him in office... you might have thought that he would have approached this term with a bit of humility, with a middle-of-the-road approach, but you would have been wrong... ____________ Savoy Mag faire, ......If we were a less forgiving-or more cautious-electorate, we might have guessed that a second Bush presidency would lead to another recession or "Mother of All Wars," but who could've known we'd have both of those and then some on the horizon heading into 2003? Still, troubling as it all is, have the flailing economy and pending conflict at home and abroad visibly affected you yet? Are prolonged unemployment and financial hardship more the norm for us as a result of the ever-expanding national quagmire of debt and destruction, or are we just where we always were-takin' it day by day and gettin' by? Responses to Rant and Rave-Economy, War and the Effect on the Black Community Blind Patriotism As a bi-vocational Pastor, it is appalling to me how much blind patriotism there is for President Bush and the present administration. At the church I pastor, I see individuals every week whose lives have been adversely affected by the present economic climate. We must be truthful as a nation and admit that black people are being hit worse than white people. But then on my job, in corporate America, it amazes me how much support Bush and his administration still gets from white Americans. It is as if no matter how much our nation as a whole suffers and declines, in their eyes, Bush still can do no wrong. He is indeed white America's president and their unconditional support for him proves that they recognize he has THEIR best interests at heart when it comes to national policy. Our only hope for turning the economy around and improving our foreign relations (the lack thereof has cost us support for an attack on Iraq), is for black people to make their voice heard. Black people must get out and vote in 2004! Reggie
