Ray, I had dinner with two labor lawyers last night, both partisan Democrats, one a fairly significant player in Chicago. Both expressed a preference for Dean, but they are both practical enough to know that Dean would not be a viable candidate.

I suggested an Edwards-Clark ticket. Edwards has a bit of the Clinton charisma and while the VP candidate generally is not a factor, putting Clark on the ticket would reassure those that would be concerned about Edwards lack of foreign policy experience. Hmm...this thought sounds vaguely familiar. They liked the idea.
