I agree on the economy, and also think the left wing media's next "shocker" will be the story on Bush getting virtually all of his tax plan through.

As for the elections, the Dems positioned themselves to get hurt by bad economic news for 2002, and it hurt them badly. They are doing it once again for 2004, and will STILL fail to comprehend what they are doing to themselves.

In order to blame a president for the economy, you have to get BEAT on tax issues. The Republicans failed to stop the Clinton/Rubin heist of 1993 and swept the Congress away in 1994. As long as the Democrats obstruct the Bush tax plan all the economic BAD NEWS is theirs, and theirs alone. The deficit-scare bullshit stopped working a generation ago-and they STILL pump it like a cheap organ.

It's about OBSTRUCTION, and OBSTRUCTION alone...

If the economy is revived by this time next year then it's over for the Democrats in 2004. Bush will be a shoe-in. If not, then Bush might be in trouble. It is hard to believe that the economy could go into a 3rd straight year of a slump. But, it is possible, especially after the wicked expansion that we experienced in the late 1990s. In any case, sometimes employment is a lagging indicator as it seems like now we're really feeling the job losses. The economy has to improve enough to be perceived as good by the common man or Bush might have a fight on his hands in the fall of 2004.
