The Carolina Nine
By WILLIAM SAFIRE

Looks like everyone reads this the same.

Sort of, though this is excellent analysis. Safire at his best. I disagree, however, that Lieberman looked particularly good. I did miss the first 20 minutes and perhaps that's where he did well or the difference between Safire and me is different political starting points and Lieberman did nothing to hurt himself. So we simply saw different things.

I thought the best laugh line was Kerry's, when George said the rap on him was too aloof, his humorous line was that he had to off by himself to think about it. Not bad. But none of these candidates, including Bush, will ever be good stand up comedians.

But with the minor exception of the disagreement about Lieberman, that last sentence is roughly were I am as well.

I'm still struck, though, that we are doing this in the spring months of the year before the election. I'm in favor of passing some sort of laws to limit the duration of these things. Don't the Brits have such?
