It was horrible." knighty, but this sticks out and explains how iraqis feel. if they viewed us as an invading army out to merely steal their oil, the above statement would be unheard of. can you imagine the french not blaming the germans for their civilian casualties? or the native americans not blaming the europeans for their civilian casualties? rather, the iraqis themselves, and high level professionals, no less, blamed their own poice force for their own casualties. AMAZING! b/c of that statement, i tend to believe their version of the story. however, i don't think it contradicts our version. lynch may well have been abused very badly - but not at that hospital. word has it she totally shut down and can't remember anything about anything b/c the trauma was so severe. perhaps it was just imaginary trauma. the bullet holes in the heads of her partners lends credence to it not being imaginary, imho.

MK, This is a story of dueling mythologies. The chicken hawks want a rescue of a an abused soldier, a woman, no less, and the hospital staff want to show that they weren't monsters. I don't know how you can get to the truth and both stories will probably live on. I'm more inclined to believe the hospital staff than the comic book version presented to us by the patriotic media. The TV movie will almost certainly be a travesty of what actually happened. Unless it plays on Comedy Central of course(G).
