Yes, it was because of that. The bet is, that Lucent and Juniper combined (supported by Lucent Worldwide Services) can sell more equipment than separately.

Juniper Network's announcement also helped Nortel which was up as much as 17 cents before closing up 7 cents (+2.61%). That's what I love about sector investing these days. One company says something like Juniper did and everyone in the sector jumps. It'll be interesting to see where Nortel and Lucent are next week. I'll say there will be profit taking (I'll stick with that statement since this afternoon, when I saw Lucent start to sell off I mentioned that fact and it caused the stock to go back up)......Anon
