Bill you could write the same story for the state of Washington, where Patty Murray is up for re-election.

Her most recent misstep was last December, when she told a group of high school students the reason that the Arab world likes Osama bin Laden more than the USA was because bin Laden built more child care centers than the USA did in Arab countries.

California GOP Searches for Boxer Opponent
Monday, May 05, 2003

Damn! Here is a beatable Senator--she wins the "dumbest in the Senate" polls-and the Cal Repubs just can't get it together. Cris Cox would be the best bet, IMO. But he is probably too Libertarian for those idiots.

WASHINGTON ? California Republicans say they can't wait to take on two-term Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer (search ) in next year's election, but 18 months before Election Day -- and 10 months before the GOP primary -- all they've done is talk.

Republicans mentioned as potential candidates: at least 10. Declared Republican challengers: zero.
