As I recall the 98 market - the retail investor was out of that too.
It was a nasty double bottom after a failed rally in lat 97.

Not even close. Check trading volume at Schwab but I bet there is a huge difference.

Back then, the Brinker followers on my site all stayed fully inveseted on his advice.... Now he went fully back but still calls it a cyclical bull in a secular bear (crap.. who the hell knows?) and nobody seems too excited to take his advice and I can't find a soul on my site to admit they plowed in the 25% into QQQs he recommended this time after they put 33% OF TOTAL PORTFOLIO into them back in Oct 2000. No... at best people that follow him are going back to "balanced" 50:50 type portfolios... but some of his biggest fans that used to post much are short or mostly cash.

I think that Brinker stuff I observe and the Schwab data and the money flow pouring into Bonds says pretty much retail is still dead for the most part. If da Cheif is right, there could be much more fuel in da fire this time... but we'll sure need to see some good economic numbers and jobs to hit DOW 16K in my opinion.
