And yet, the disparity of income for African Americans vs. White Americans, is lower in Florida's cities than Oakland CA, Newark NJ, Minneapolis, Washington DC, or Chicago IL. (which are the 5 U.S. metro's with the Highest disparity of income - of the 50 metros the the largest African American populations). The median income disparity between African Americans and white (non hispanic) households in San Francisco? Almost $40,000! Of the five U.S. metro's with the lowest income disparity between African American and White households, three are in Florida: Orlando, Tampa-St. Pete and Fort Lauderdale.

I believe that you will find that residential segregation in Florida is lower than many cities in the Northeast or Midwest, too.

re:"Birmingham - Astonishingly, and sadly, four decades after Martin Luther King Jr. marched in Birmingham, we must ask again, “Do African-Americans have the unimpeded right to vote in the USA?...”
