no doubt there are currently a number of issues dogging SA gold producers...inter alia the beginning wage negotiations with the NUM and the recent passing of the royalties tax, etc. - but it could well be argued that these things ( plus the strong Rand ) are discounted by now. note that in spite of all this negative stimulus the SA producer's stocks have stopped going down. what's more, recent earnings reports haven't been all that bad. Harmony for instance still made quite a bundle ( two years ago, this would have been a record profit ) and people were not only reminded of the negative effects of the strong Rand, but also of the huge leverage that exists should the Rand weaken again. at the end of the day, one immutable fact remains: the world's largest gold reserves by far are still in the hands of South Africa's producers. more prolific gold systms than the Free State and Witwatersrand deposits simply don't exist anywhere else. and a seldom remarked upon historical fact is that SA's major producers have paid a dividend every single year since the late 1880's, through all sorts of upheavals ( even during the world wars ) . Fagan is imo just a side show that will contribute to the wall of worry...

It is, perhaps, worth noting that in the past month the buck lost 6.4%. At this rate, the dollar is going to lose 33% in half-a-year, 55% in a year -g-
Now, POG did not really rally - it just held its value, cause 342*0.936=320
