Eric, Tom/Frank, Pyslent, and Slacker-

LOL, I give up!!!! You guys are too much. You must be auditioning for the AWE IR opening. Even the nice AWE IR lady I was exchanging email with finally said “I think it may have just been poorly worded in that it is considered a next generation data network (2.5G), but not a 3G network which will happen when UMTS is done. So more appropriate would have been final phase of rollout of 2.5G next generation network. All this technical stuff can be confusing at times”.

So that we’re all thinking correctly on “next generation” network terminology as it pertains to AWE (or any GSM carrier’s path to 3G ?) it should be defined as follows. GSM is 2nd generation network technology. GPRS, being the “next generation”, is 3rd generation network. EDGE which follows GPRS in the upgrade path must then be the next generation after GPRS, or the 4th generation network . UMTS which follows EDGE ,and I take it is still another generation, must therefore be the 5th generation network.

Good work, I’ve finally been convinced this CDMA2000 stuff that’s only 3G is way behind the technology curve.

I’m cashin in my QCOM and PCS and jumpin’ into NOK and AWE.

Thanks for clearing this up (“technology stuff can be confusing at times”) and All the best- jim
