>>In my mind it underscores how incredibily incompetent the Chinese health structure would appear to be.<<

You must be kidding to compare China with Canada! even if the health system in Canada is disorganized, it is still there. It is a DEVELOPED country anyway. Its per capita income is there for every one in the world to see.

While China, after 150 years of Imperialists robbery, and Japanese invasion, and then civil war, was in such a devastating state in 1949. As a matter of fact, it is a pure miracle for China become what it is now after only 50 years.

"Incompetent"? That is a very ignorant word to use here.

enough said. don't think worth of arguing.

Given Canadas success in that state of disorganization it is surprising that Canada has been able to contain this disease and in fact they seem to be gaining ground rapidly. In my mind it underscores how incredibily incompetent the Chinese health structure would appear to be.

Quite unfair. Canada was dealing with an outbreak largely caused by (possibly) a single individual. They were doing this after the disease had already been identified. China has been dealing with multiple outbreaks and they had to start doing so before it was a known disease at all.

Not to defend the initial Chinese government handling of this, but they were always faced with a much harder task than was Canada.
