This piece is devastating to Hersh.

That's a little strong. I think it's better read as a part of the ongoing Washington wars. Hersh has become a part of those wars so will take flak. No doubt Perle's supporters are giving fire every chance they can get.

Having said that, his piece on the early part of the Iraq miiitary campaign and this one do seem to be too closely positioned with one side or another.
