Re: And we thought our ancestors the superticious!!!

It is truly astonishing to watch the human race propel itself from one fear and terrorization threat to the next, almost all of them completely mis-reported in the media, eager to sell their disinformation and infotainments.

Shark attacks? Ridiculously small numbers of humans are attacked by sharks.

Asteroid catastrophes? The news mavens got a lot of traction out of an event that seems to occur once every sixty millio years or so.

Child abductions? Rates have been going down, yet you certainly wouldn't know it from the news.

School gun violence? Rate have been falling since the 1980's, but you couldn't tell it from the news.

Crime wave in the U.S.? Rates of all violent crimes have been going down since the 1980's, but you couldn't tell it from the news.

Small pox? Eliminated from the planet except for two well guarded stocks. But you couldn't tell it from the news.

Mad Cow Disease? Occurred at a rate that makes dying from drowning in England look like a run away catastrophe. But you couldn't tell it from the news.

Conclusion? The 'news' and the truth are almost contradictions in terms in our Orwellian double-think media world.
