Tom, I find it interesting that people are still looking at it as just a detour ... just wait til they find out the road's been washed out and there's no way to get there from here. <g/ng>

The signs that I remember are between Mont Ste Anne and Anse Pleureuse, which is still technically on the river, but I guess there are others further down the coast. I haven't been in that particular corner of the Gaspe in years.

Isle Miscou is actually in New Brunswick, but yes, it's just across the bay from Gaspe. I've never been there myself (I've flown over it a few times), but people say it's one of the most beautiful places in Canada. And yes, fires on the beach ... I sometimes forget that in most places it's hard to even get access to the beach, let alone build a fire. There are some advantages to living in the boonies. <g>
