Well, Miller goes a little deeper than just Mailer. He berates the mass media on their "the public needs to know" justification. He thinks that the young folks on the ground have a difficult and scary enough job that they don't need reporters sticking microphones in their faces. In the interest of safety, "we" (the public) don't really need to know. It can wait. On Kerry: He respects Kerry's service record, yet later opines that it will be Kerry's only achievement in life. Gephardt: He's fairly just flat out mean about Gephardt. "Not transparent — translucent!" However, you (of all people) will no doubt be pleased to know that Miller is big fan of — Chris Hitchens. <gg> &#133even had him on his show once or twice. "You will notice that he is careful with his targets. Nobody gives a shit if you attack Mailer."
