The French will find out soon enough that paybacks are coming in many more forms than they ever imagined. And...the Muslim population in France will be an immense problem for them in the future. I find it difficult to blame all of France's troubles on just one aspect of their policies in appeasing the Muslims. There was underhanded dealing with Saddam's government for oil and trading purposes and they got caught. Does America want to call the French friends and allies? I don't think those words ring true anymore.
