TigerPaw, Wrong. The new numbers for Canada are not the "total hydrocarbons as reserves", but economically recoverable reserves. If you counted total reserves, the tar sands numbers would probably be much higher (more like a trillion barrels). energy.gov.ab.ca re: "To go after the tar sands on the cheap would get but a tiny fraction of the hydrocabons contained within them. You want to count total hydrocarbons as reserves, but consider cost only in the cheapest evaporative extraction methods."
