Raymond goes a little overboard at times, i've mentioned it to him, he thought it a compliment ... if you buy me a beer i'll consider a confession of having come near going a tich overboard myself, once ... such is life You're not a bad guy at heart, uw, but you do push buttons at times .... you're ex-military, so it's natural that you identify with US forces, try to present them in the most favourable light possible .... perhaps without realising it, you can come across to some as attempting to present them as perfect, and by extension the orders under which they operate as perfect, as gospel from on high It's this extension more than anything, that roils the blood in many of the Rest of Us .... no machine that large and complex and aggressive and powerful could ever be perfect in its politics, and in this case the record shows plain that it has not been perfect, historically .... there is much room for valid criticism of the policy of any state, and the bigger they are, the broader the target they present, the more imperfections show up ... this effect becomes heightened when it is made plain that they wish to instill fear in the Rest of Us, since along with fear, comes loathing This PNAC-neocon programme of deciding everything for the Rest of Us in the backrooms of Washington, it is just not going to wash, they'll not sell many on the idea, outside the very few men doing that deciding, and the very few of we six billions who identify with these few men ..... six billions, uw - this would be a lot to convince that rain was wet .... the only thing you can sell any considerable slice of the Rest of Us on, will be equitable working international institutions for the deciding of things like invasion of sovereign nations, or for that matter, grossly unfair impositions of one-way 'free trade' .... Diktat may work for you for a while, sure, but only if you keep your finger on that napalm button there, and that's not much of a life for you, is it 'The subject who is truly loyal to the Chief Magistrate will neither advise nor submit to arbitrary measures.' - Junius .... [this is the whole masthead slogan of the Globe and Mail, perhaps it applies, dunno ... cheers]
