Well, not your response which completely missed the point...or do you find wars of conquest with casualties in excess of one million people simply "entertaining social conversation?" The rest of your drivel about football or boxing is as inane as the reference to Saddam as a "political leader" instead of the ruthless dictator he was. Still trying to whitewash Saddam, JF? It's getting harder every day and the pro-Saddam/anti-war arguments are getting weaker and weaker... Within the past month the world has learned Saddam used anything and everything from sticks and ropes to rockets and chemical weapons to torture and annihilate hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children. I would consider that "mass destruction" especially in light of Saddam's history of invasions, support of terrorism, and yes, the variety of weapons programs he undertook for decades. With an area the size of California to search, over 200 suspected sites to investigate and thousands of leads from prisoners and civilians to review, you seem to be in an awfully big hurry to say there are no WMD's. Weren't you one of the ones who, after 12 years, wanted to give the "inspectors" more time? I think you and the other Saddam-enablers and apologists are in a very tough spot right now. You have to completely hang your hat on our NOT finding actual WMD's within some reasonable time (compared to the 12-year "inspections"). That is a very, very slim possibility, imo, and what will you and the others say if and when they are found? Personally, I and many others don't need any more evidence to be able to say Saddam was a "mass destroyer" in every sense of the phrase. Actual WMD's would be just one more layer of sludge on an already scummy dictator. After all we've seen and learned since the invasion began: the torture chambers, the executions, the genocide, the mass graves, the weapons stored in hospitals and schools, civilians used as shields, the country's wealth plundered by the billions upon billions, the support of terrorism.....do you really hate George Bush so much that you can't see what an enormous and dangerous burden has been removed from the world? Good grief, man! Use your head! Vote him out in '04 if you want but at least have the integrity to say that in this one matter, George W. Bush and Tony Blair did a great and courageous thing. Cheer up, the world is a much better place than it was just a few months ago--MK--
