.Paragon Capital Stopped Making Markets In Stocks Monday
By Carol S. Remond

Dow Jones News Service

NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Paragon Capital Markets Inc. stopped acting as a
market maker as of Monday morning.

Trading data shows that the firm was mostly active on the
Over-The-Counter-Bulletin-Board and Pink Sheet markets. Paragon made a
market in more than 700 stocks on the OTCBB and 900 stocks on the Pink
Sheets last month.

Officials at Paragon weren't available for comment.

A spokesman for Nasdaq said Paragon asked to be excused as a market maker.
He couldn't say why.

Trading data shows that Paragon made a market on Nasdaq in the stock of
about 110 companies, about half of which were listed on that exchange.

A spokeswoman for the National Association of Securities Dealers, which
regulates the securities industry, declined to comment on Paragon's decision
and referred all questions to the firm.

Market makers are registered firms that act as middlemen for trades,
competing with each other to offer the best prices.
