Where is our accountant...? If one gets a speaking fee...and decides to donate it to a non profit...say the DNC.....Does the speaker actually take the check, pay the 39.6% tax on the whole, and donate whatever amount to the nonprofit....take the deduction....

OR does the speaker take a portion of the fee, and have the group paying the speaker donate the money directly to the non-profit....who takes the deduction?

How does this work? (No I don't know....) Hopefully someone can tell us how this works...
