T-Mobile USA, the smallest of six national mobile operators in the USA, had 9.916 million subscribers at the end of 2002 and has consistently won market share over the last year. It is Deutsche Telekom's main driver of core earnings growth. The smallest of six national mobile operators in the USA, which some analysts expect to be sold, again posted the highest net customer growth in the quarter as it extended its coverage over the United States and continued a marketing drive. “The new customers are mainly high-value, contract customers,” one source familiar with the numbers said. Deutsche Telekom declined to comment. Europe’s largest telecoms carrier is due to report first-quarter results on Thursday.
