The airline industry is an example of poor management except for Southwest Airlines. But the major airlines will not use them as a business model, and instead, insist on paying high salaries and bonuses to their executives in spite of poor performance. The high salaries does not stop with the executives.

I know of people at Delta making 6 figure salaries who do not have the credentials to justify that pay level. I know of one individual who claimed to be an industrial engineer with Delta, but he never attended college. He claimed to have learned his skills on the job. I know of others as well who lack the proper credentials. Yet, the airline industry looks to the Federal Government and the taxpayer to bail them out when the going gets tough, but they are reluctant to help themselves by tightening their own financial belt first.
