I can't see deflation as a good thing in general. Why build anything when the result might be worth less than the orignal value of the components?

To reflate, I was thinking of govts spending more. No need to go the whole Keynesian hog and employ two groups - one to dig holes, and another to fill them. There are all sorts of opportunities to employ people usefully while ensuring they don't produce anything. Production of anything material would be counter-productive for this purpose.

We're not there yet; at deflation. I wonder if the post 9/11 spending on defence is part of the reason.
