Jacob,

Your examples often reach back to the Crusades - which tries to evoke heart strings for the poor Arabs and Palestinians.

What spawned the crusades? Who was Charles Martell turning back at Tours? A strong case can be made that during the 'clash of civilizations' of that era - that the Crusades were a counter-attack. Christianity had been attacked - and it wasn't by an idea - it was by a sword.

Now - you get into the strange behavior of defining all Israeli males as valid targets. This from the same man who counts every death and injury in Afghanistan and Iraq as a civilian - despite the fact that most are males in their 20's.

Think about who is demonizing whom on this thread - you may want to look in a mirror.

John

From a moral or military point of view, what is the difference between killing an Israeli soldier manning a checkpoint, and killing him when he is off-duty the next day at a nightclub?

From a moral or military point of view, what's the difference between killing a soldier at a checkpoint and suicide bombing young families at a pizzeria? You have now come full circle to say that terrorism is a legitimate form of warfare - for the Palestinians. No difference in your eyes between targeting babies in strollers and killing civilians by accident; and btw, if Israel did not take strong measures to try to avoid killing civilians, the casualty figures would be very much higher. After all, the Israelis have the means to strike where they will, only their concern for civilians prevented them from simply flattening Jenin from the air a year ago. Not that they get any credit for it from you.

So, was 9/11 a legitimate form of warfare for Al Qaeda to use to respond to US "militaristic bullying"?
