I'll take a page from unckie's book

Condor,
LOL
Go ahead and keep that page...I have several copies and a copy machine in my office. If you get banned, I'll meet ya for coffee.

Seriously, I congratulate you for having the fortitude to uncover outrageousness.

You know the world is not ending at least not yet. Yes, we have war and disease (SARS) right now. We even have the threat of more war...NK, China, etc. But this is situation normal.

We have been here before. I have walked through the catacombs under St Stephan's Cathedral in Vienna. They are packed with the bones of Plague victims and those are just the tens of thousands who were buried, most were not. Disease and war have been with us forever and ever.

It is not too difficult to figure out how America got here and how we stay free. I can tell you with certainty that our freedom was not won by students from Berkeley demonstrating and carrying peace signs at the Boston Tea Party.

Our freedom is not being sustained by many in the educated American left who have grown fat, soft and weak while enjoying the spoils of wars fought by others. So weak they want to avoid a fight at all costs because they know they personally cannot win. They will never admit it, but their most recent leader failed miserably to protect us and our flanks. He was one of those who refused to fight...who would not fight. He even dismantled some 40% of our defense during his 8 year tenure and called it a peace dividend. Our freedoms were not won by nor can they be sustained by such weakness. My greatest hope is that most Americans will recognize that those who stand next to him during the coming elections are supporting moral turpitude.

You carefully point out that mistakes have been made and all reasonable folks will agree including those who made them. But all is not lost. Life is not over. The real question is...is inaction appropriate?

There is no way I know of to see how America would look today without the Revolutionary War. There is no way to see how the world would look without WWII. There is no way to see how the ME will look in 50 years.

I believe that taking direct action to free oppressed people, to save souls from torture and sure death at the hands of brutal dictators, and to eliminate mass murder (NYC, Etc.) is a higher calling than ignoring these issues in the hopes that the problems will go away.

America and Americans are OK. Like soldiers, they are arguing, bitching and complaining. That is a healthy sign.
