>>Excesses is a peculiar term. Each person can decide their own definition. Each can also define other's excesses as they choose.
Yes indeed and therein lies an occasional problem.
>>Not sure what the purpose of that post to me was. Whatever it was, I did not get the message.
Really...
>>I suppose since you came here to address me instead of using your own thread where I am banned...you expect a response. I will try to be thorough and air it all out.
I guess you cannot let me have the last word ... :o)
>>Here goes... Are you still seeing harmful ghosts behind coffee cups?
No, just unruly people.
>>Have you found your lost sense of humor yet?
Some people are making it tough, but I'm hanging in there...
>>Those 2 questions are only intended to increase your heart rate...no response expected.
Just the warming up in the Bull Pen eh?
>>With so many friendlys in the AO, I'm not sure I like your USAF tactic of using big bombs to kill em all. You should expect some to question the tactic when you cause friendly casualties, especially if smaller explosions would accomplish the mission.
Not sure what the purpose of that response to me was. Whatever it was, I did not get the message.
>>"*"...FL, you invented the game, you brought the ball, you own the playing field, you wrote the rules and you are the referee. That is a lot of power...WOW! How does it feel? Do you think it could lead you to excesses?
Actually, it's gotten pretty boring lately -- bitch and whine, bitch and whine...
>>I accept your excesses for a few reasons...
>>You missed 500 innings.
I'm back by popular demand.
>>You are under intense work pressure.
Yes, my other community works are actually important.
>You have a decidedly left tilt and it is in your bones to object to any position from the right(You hide that pretty well but it does show.).
Never have voted for a Republican and I never will...but, suprise!, some of my best friends are Republicans. Odd...
>>You may have misplaced your sense of humor.
I try to be aware of that issue. I worry about it. But sometimes, I have to lower the boom on a smarty-pants just because everyone starts getting the idea that is OK to mouth off as long as you are 'just kidding'... I seen a lot of that in my life -- passive-aggressive describes it quite nicely, "What's a matter? Can't you take a joke...?!" You know the type.
>>My comment about spitting was in quotation marks and was a quote from another era...Even Marcos got it as he later PM'd me... "by the way i didn't comprehend until after responding the first time that your reference to spitting was a quote from someone else, and not a threat to do so yourself." The exact statement I made was, Veterans, especially Vietnam veterans, will understand me when I say, "I only regret I cannot spit on them...all of them." The quote (well known in my circle) for your info is from the SDS anti-war protestors at the Seattle airport who were welcoming home American soldiers in the late 60s and early 70s by spitting on them. Do you consider former SDS members immoral?
>>Of course I do. So out of almost 500 people reading your work that day, how many do think 'got the joke'? I didn't. (Oddly, if you examine the reference in your statement, you are actually saying That you regret that you cannot spit on the Veterans. :o) That's a joke, get it?)
>>John's interpretation that an invitation to coffee and a quote about spitting constitute threats is ridiculous.
I KNOW you have jokingly said this phrase in other, more humorous, contexts but to the casual reader, there was a likely conclusion that I could not let ride.
But , you know, what am I to do? Ask you to explain -- huh, not likely to happen. Explain for you? Again, that wouldn't have flown either. So...where does that leave me? I have to decide one way or the other, I have so many people breathing down my neck they are bagging my shorts...
>>Whoops...I just gave LB 2 reasons to ban me.
Not my concern... :o)
>>Have no fear Ken I have no intention of spitting on anyone. Yet, I certainly do not share your view that spitting is "immoral". Spitting is a cultural thing that varies by country...They cane people for spitting in Singapore. In America, doctors often urge their patients to spit. In the South and on baseball fields, tobacco chewers spit openly in public. In the country of FAGD, alleged spitters get banned.
You think that should be in the header? No, no... now, you were speaking for Vets, and I'm one too, so I have the right to comment. That was not any kind of a 'bannable' offense, just another common disagreement like we read on the thread all day long.
>>Nor do I speak for you, ever...We both know that. And I suspect we both know I wasn't.
Actually, I thought you were presuming to do exactly that.
>>Much outrageousness, condescension, insults, immorality and anti-Americanism is tolerated from the left under the guise of free speech. Ever notice the attempts to squelch those qualities in those who lean right?
I think that is horse manure, uw.
>>Ken, I have enjoyed playing your FADG game, but the playing field probably tilts too far left for me now. Besides, I may be a little too rough around the edges for the smooth operators over there.
I'mm sorry you feel that way. That kind of statement is what I have worked hard to avoid. Oh, well, everyone votes with their feet but do drop by whenever you wish. From day one I've urged you to contribute and you have done a fine and interesting job of it. Problems always crop up when posters judge each other...unfortualtel/or fortunately, that's my job, not yours, not anyone else's becasue this is where it always leads us. You will be missed if you bow out. Losing your contributions was in no way my intention, I just have to calls'em as I sees'em and if I f&#%-up sometimes, so what, this isn't the end of the world.
>>I have enjoyed our many cyber conversations at many cyberlocations over the years. I have always endeavored to be honest, factual, and open with my opinion.
I am aware of that -- and I likewise.
>>The recent combat battle is essentially over. As in all armed conflicts, now is the time to initiate the search for the guilty and punish the innocent. (I doubt you will agree with that today, but you may later.)
>>Good luck with your thread. I'm sure it will be much calmer after the purge.
Well, that's not very nice. Sad because there is next to nothing at stake here in the real world...
>>If you bust just 2 or 3 more out of there it will really be calm. Conversations between folks who think and act alike are normally always calm.
And that's exact;y why I have resisted many, many demands to ban certain 'troublemakers'. I've even said it myself. If we all agree, what's the point. Hey, get with the program, take your two weeks like a man and do the right thing -- don't whine about me, it's so...SI.
>>I just went back and reread your post to me. Geez, I can be slow...I now realize you intended an insult and putdown.
Nah, it's just the reality I have to deal with on the thread. Excesses? well, IMO they are a pain in the ass on a thread like FADG. So, I try to nip it in the bud. Some don't like it...too bad.
>>Please go back and read paragraph "*" above.
Nah.
>>Ken, I forgive your excesses.
Excellent! And I forgive yours too (in another week). :o)
Best regards, --ken |
