Actually, the explanation had very little to do with courage and should have answered your question. It's a moral issue, which doesn't have anything to do with being brave. A criminal desperate enough to take hostages is dangerous regardless of their proclaimed agenda, and regardless of what other criminals desperate enough to take hostages in the past have done. The situation has nothing to do with what the criminals may or may not do. It has to do with what the criminals have already done, which is threatened the lives of persons who have done nothing to justify the threat. My view is anyone who has attained a level of moral and social responsibility above that of a child would fight under those or any similar circumstances.
