CanRoys: does anyone have information on the proposed tax bill that came out of the House today, including a reduction in tax paid on dividends, especially as this might effect taxes paid by US taxpayers on foreign dividends. The House bill lowers taxes on dividends to 15% vs. current capgains tax rate of more than double this figure. I am assuming that the reduction in dividend taxation would apply equally to US and foreign dividend income. Realize the bill has not passed the Senate yet, so it may be moot, but if anyone has experience with this from prior changes in dividend taxation, I'd be interested. James Edit: if this bill is passed, it would seem to present yet another incentive for investors to go for CanRoys.
