Another Education story. We are known here in Hawaii for our poor school system. Lots of reasons. The "Dirty little secret" one is our high percentage of Polynesians, although I put it down to a bad school system. Here is a classic example of good intentions gone bad.

The school system, since the 70s, has had an "Hawaiian Language Immersion system" available. This was pushed through by the "Native Rights" groups. They take Polynesian kids in the second grade, who are speaking "pigeon English" at best, and put them into three years of "Hawaiian only" in school, to bring back the language. When they come out of this program in the 5th grade, they can speak Hawaiian well, but their English is still almost non-existent. They are also not doing well in any other subjects.

In the meantime, kids in India not only learn English, their parents, if they can afford it, send them to private school to learn how to speak "CNN" English, without the Indian accent.

Now guess which kids grow up to be servers and Entertainers in our Tourist Industry and which kids immigrate here and are running our Tourist Industry.

And guess what the local "Native Rights" organizations are telling these kids, when they reach 40, as to why they are not doing better in the world. That's right. Because the White man stole their Islands!
