I fail to see what gets you so upset. Surely, we could both recount untold numbers of school administrators, as we grew up, that were far worse than the ones in this story, assuming the boys' version is accurate. And that, of course, would need to be checked.

We were, for instance, harassed every morning with America firster stuff, praise for Joe McCarthy, talk of communism taking over the world if Adlai Stevenson was elected. And this from the superintendent of the system. Doing it over the loudspeaker. Those "just before school opens" thingies.

If your point is that school administrators make mistakes, I'm definitely with you there. Both public and private. If this mistake and the genre out of which it comes is in a class by itself, I beg to differ.
