The Maof-25 index is trading up 2.3% at 409.5 points and the broader TA-100 index is rising 2.2% to 417.6 points. The Tel-Tech-15 index is advancing by 2%, and the total volume of trade is heavy at NIS 200 million.

The most popular stock on the floor today is Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI), which is up 2.8% on turnover of NIS 23 million. On Thursday the bank's stock advanced 3.1% on massive turnover of NIS 61 million, after strong buying by foreign investors.

Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI), the arch-rival, is surging by 4.3% on turnover of NIS 15 million.

Teva Pharmaceuticals (TASE, Nasdaq:TEVA) started the week with a positive arbitrage gap of 1.4%. The drugmaker is up 2.8% on a volume of NIS 14 million. Investors were rewarding it for receiving United States Food and Drug Administration approval for moexipril, in 7.5 and 15 Menorah Gaon dosages. The FDA nod was forthcoming after the court ruled, back in March, that Teva is not violating a Schwarz Pharma patent. Teva has an 180-day exclusivity window to market the high blood pressure treatment, which commands annual sales of about $70 million.

Makhteshim Agan Industries (TASE: MAIN) stock is soaring by 5.2% on turnover of NIS 8.5 million, after Nessuah Zannex wrote a heartwarming analysis of the company, saying it has joined the big leagues of global agrochem companies. Analyst Haim Israel raised his forecasts for 2003 to sales of $1.075 billion and a net profit of $81.2 million.

IDB stocks are sustaining their positive momentum, on assessments that the group's takeover is nearing. IDB Holding Corporation (TASE: IDBH) is rising by 1.9%, lifting its market value to $740 million, lost 12% below the price at which its takeover is due to be effected.

Subsidiary IDB Holding Corporation (TASE: IDBH) is up 2.6%, Discount Investment Corporation (TASE: DISI) is rising by 3.7% and Clal Industries and Investments (TASE: CII) is up 3.3%.

Isramco Ltd (TASE: ISRA.L) participation units are gaining 11.8% on huge turnover of NIS 4 million. Isramco units have risen 39% in May, and 63% from the start of 2003.
