<font color=blue> You wrote:" Actually JD, Castro was a result of American exploitation. Go back to the Cuba of the mid-50s and see what was going on with the endorsement of our very own government."<font color=black>

That is absolute garbage. It's just the same old "blame America first" retarded mentality.

Cuba suffered through decades of political problems and instability. Throughout those decades America did it's best to assist the Cuban people in developing a democratic system in Cuba.

When Castro took over America didn't realize what a corrupt piece of shit Castro would become.

Thoughout history America has a track record of providing freedom and democracy for the people of the world. Unfortunately, regardless of our good intentions and efforts, we failed to bring democracy to the people of Cuba. It is sad chapter in our history and in the oppressed Cuban people's history.

Steve, I probably know more first hand about Cuba in the 50's then most on this thread if not all. Cuba in those days was basically run BY THE MAFIA. Batista was under the Mafia's THUMB and corruption was totally rampant with nothing going to the people. Thats how Castro got into power to begin with. Then, we sort of screwed up by attempting to isolate him as we thought he was a socialist (today, his original feelings were probably to the right of many right here in AMERICA but those were a different time). Anyhow, by ostracizing him we basically forced him to turn to RUSSIA and thats how it all began. Russia leaped on the bandwagon cause they were pissed about us ringing their country with missles and them being unable to do anything about it. However, when they put missiles in Cuba they soon realized Castro was naive himself and not understanding of the TRUE PURPOSE things were happening and he even scared the shit out of the Russians as he was a LOOSE CANNON. IMHO had we treated Castro as the new leader of Cuba and dealt with him squarely none of this would have happened and we would have had a Socialized nation to the south of our borders but I would STILL HAVE MY CIGARS. haha.
