re: "here's what we're up against"

I disagree, It is not against us, it is a given and it is our opportunity. Were it not for this extremely broad consensus, there is no way that AMD would be at seven and change. Remember it is "BUY LOW...SELL HIGH !!! In order to buy low the stock has to be low. All of these guys are really our friends. You will like them even more as they start to join us. Maybe some of them will start to break ranks and join us tomorrow.

STAY TUNED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

re: they cannot beat intel their r&d is just a fraction of intel's

But, in fact, they have consistently caught up to and even surpassed inteL on this fraction of inteL's apparently squandered research budget. Just imagine what AMD will be able to do when, for the first time, they have a non-starvation type research budget.

re: <FONT COLOR=BLACK>a horrible company It is an amazement to me that someone supposedly sophisticated in finance and investments cannot distinguish between a company and the common stock of that company. AMD common is horrible. It in no way reflects the underlying value of the company represented. The company, however, is an ongoing wonder. We should see recognition of that wonder by the market in general relatively soon.

Do not worry, this time I will not say it.

re: <FONT COLOR=BLACK> Despite Bill Gates positive references to AMD and AMD64

I hope that you realize that this is not simply a gratuitous endorsement of AMD technology. Microsoft has bet a good deal of its future revenues on AMD64. It is saying publicly (and probably privately) that it expects substantial revenue driving engines from 64 bit operating systems, server and more general consumer as well as business applications.

How would this happen without substantial sales of AMD64 based CPUs ?

Petz:

My guess is that this guy is trying to unwind his short position before AMD takeoff...Not sure he'll be successful, though!!!
