<"It's clear to me that they are passionate about their beliefs and they believe in a democratic Iran. I probably didn't quite understand that when I began this process.">

Another American with an amazingly total ignorance of history. A few minutes on the internet, and this General could have learned that the MKO was allies of the Ayatollahs, working together before and after the Iranian Revolution, before they had a falling-out. He could have learned, that the group has never practiced anything remotely like democracy (using the dictionary definition of the word), anytime in their history. He could have learned, that this group killed Americans, civilians and military, back then.

Or maybe he's one of the many Americans who define political words in a very creative fashion. If the only requirement for being called "democratic", is to fight America's enemies, then they are democrats. At the moment, anyway. Sort of like, Bin Laden was a fighter for freedom and democracy, back when he was fighting the Soviets.

It lessens our hypocrisy, that we are disarming the group. The hypocrisy will end, when we start defining terrorists by their methods, not their politics.
