Who knows what the correct numbers on defense spending are, Peter? Surely neither you nor I nor uw.

Here is a pretty little graph that sums it all up.

Or if you prefer, you can google year by year and get the exact the figures. But the graph tells the story of the small bitty defense cuts during the 90s pretty well.

When Clinton left office the budget was so low that USAF, Navy and Army had to mothball 30-39% of their equipment and cut personnel by a similar percentage. And John forget about a large land war...that fell by the wayside Thanksgiving of 1975 when the last draftees were discharged. That is why we have nukes prepositioned.
