Just a little niggle re: It has to be because you're incapable of rational thought, at least as it's understood in the West.

There ain't no longer such a thing as "the West"... There's Europe --old and new (ask Mr Rumsfeld)-- and there's America. To lump them into a single geopolitical entity is almost an oxymoron... I mean, it's like trying to grasp current world events on the premise that the world is made up of earthlings only --one homogeneous planet Earth populated with interchangeable earthlings... we're all earthlings! But then, how can we explain the world's conflicts within such a holistic paradigm? If we want to make sense of them, we must break down our "earthling" model into several conflicting subsets --Arabs, Jews, Christians, whites, blacks, Chinese, Hindus, Russians, Europeans, Americans, etc. Only at that sub-level shall we be able to work out an operative geopolitical theory....
