there is another way. when you genuinely understand that you not only don't "know" but that you cannot "know", you realize that nobody else can, either. you realize that *everybody* is guessing.

and that opens up an unbelievable vista on the marketplace...

Yes, and I'll bet that you are constantly watching that you don't fall prey to your own prejudice, that you question your assumptions and actively try to get to that elusive truth because it does exist regardless of your ability to discern it even while you have to swim in a sea of incomplete data and make choices. We all swim in that sea.

Getting back to the market, the minute someone starts to place a requirement on the market is when they set themselves up for a fall. I get frustrated when people bring up different things occurring and assume that this means that will happen. I'm sure your experience in the ER has prepared you for the idea that the patient isn't always as dead as they look, that some people who looked like they would walk out don't and some people who looked like they were gone for certain live a long life. Its thus with the US economy as well.
