There's a well known perceptual problem at work here. I get it when I watch CNN which I think has become almost as conservative as MSNBC and working hard to catch up with Fox. In a field of different commentators, you tend to focus on the one's whose views are least like your own and then overgeneralize them to the entire field.

BBC has some wonderful commentators and anchors who distance themselves quite nicely from 24-7 US cheering and, even, god help us, have a few genuine lefties on panels. CNN would not know a genuine leftie if she/he bit them.

No one should consider any of these only one thing or perfect in whatever they advertise themselves doing. But the BBC war coverage as compared to CNN, MSNBC or Fox was in the proverbial different league.

So Andrew Sullivan doesn't like it. Yet another reason to like it.
