Re: "Iraq's participation..." Neither has OURS. The US and the Saudis jointly built, financed, trained and supplied the 'Afghan Freedom Fighters' (such as bin Laden, and the bulk of al Qaeda). Problem is... once one feeds and trains an attack dog... it is unwise to abandon it to it's own devices. (Iraq's stabs at projecting force internationally through the use of terrorism - by comparison - were amateurish failures. Due, in no small part, no doubt to the fact that they KILLED every fundamentalist agent within Iraq that they could get their hands on [wiping out the Brotherhood - Sunnis - was what put the Baathists in firm control originally... wiping out Shia agents was a regular occurance.] Bin Laden wanted Saddam dead, and Saddam wanted bin Laden dead... not such a great basis for a 'partnership'.)
