"The Blair scandal is not just evidence that reporters can go off track. It's a reminder that diversity programs can undermine the standards that made great institutions great."

this is much bigger scandal than Blair.. It is supervisor's hiding poor performance.. they made moral judgements to pass this person on for bigger and better things...
Now if I am a reader of nyt do I trust what they , how many managers passed on Blair's performance, approve to have in the daily paper... This speaks more of the creditability of the new york times than one person.

It all goes back to who was responsible for hiring him if he wasn't qualified, and how far up did this hiring charade go?

Also...wasn't Blair accountable to a supervisor, or and editor? No one knew of his "frabricated" stories?

Someone besides Blair should have to step up and face the music.
