Looks like Wall Street will have the abstracts at least a week before the public. To ensure that information from Annual Meeting abstracts is not used for purposes other than planning attendance, or prematurely communicated to cancer patients and the public, ASCO's Board of Directors has decided that the Meeting Proceedings, which contains all of the abstracts, as well as ASCO?s confidentiality notice, will not be mailed to pre-registrants in advance of the 2003 Meeting.Instead, the ASCO Meeting Proceedings will be distributed to all attendees on-site at the start of the Meeting, and mailed to ASCO members for delivery immediately following the Meeting. To minimize any inconvenience this may cause, ASCO has taken new measures and enhanced existing Meeting materials so that attendees will have the information they need to help plan their schedules.Meeting registrants will receive the ASCO Meeting Program and the Educational Book one month before the start of the Meeting. The Meeting Program has been expanded to include the schedule of sessions by track, along with the titles and authors of the abstracts, and on-site logistical information. In addition, the Online Meeting Program, which will be available to all prospective Meeting attendees in mid-April, will allow users to prepare an optimal Meeting experience by creating a customized schedule according to day, time, and/or track. Searches by abstract titles and authors will be part of the site's capability, and users will be able to download the full Meeting Program to their personal digital assistants. Abstracts will be publicly available on ASCO?s website at the conclusion of the Meeting.Members will have access to the abstracts in a password-protected area of asco.org, with a double-click confidentiality policy, at the beginning of the Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 31, 2003.
