Earlie--don't miss that front page article in today's WSJ i mentioned. has a nice little graphic with some of the big health care liabilities in auto and steel.

here's a delicious quote from a while back--this is Bethlehem Steel's CEO talking to Bloomberg, when Bessie handed the pension keys over to the government: “I hope other companies are ready for this, because many of them, including some automakers, aren’t going to be able to outrun their pension liabilities. At some point, the great sucking sound of pension and health-care liabilities just overwhelms your ability to raise capital or invest in new plants and equipment.”

while more or less retired from it, i'm from techland. in the past 2 weeks, for the first time in over a year, headhunter activity has picked up again.

if "everybody" is worrried and "everybody" can't be right...
