So, anything that hurts your opponent is good, any method or amount of violence used on them, is moral, since it is in a good cause. I agree with you, if you limit the "zero-sum-game" score-keeping, to the core members of the terrorist organizations. But, overall, including everybody involved in this war, the civilians and sympathizers and bystanders who absorb the collateral damage, it's not a zero-sum game. It's actually a game much like the Cold War MAD, where either everyone wins, or everyone loses. If we don't deal with the reasons Palestinians hate Israelis (the ongoing colonization of their land), or the reasons America is hated in the Muslim world (the fact that we conduct our foreign policy in a way that brings oppression and poverty, not freedom or prosperity, to most people in most poor nations), then everyone is going to lose this war. We will bring death, on a vast scale, to our enemies' homelands. And they will reciprocate. The road we are on, the Bush Doctrine of WarAsAFirstResort, unilateralism, preventive war, assassinations, shredding every inconvenient treaty, concentration camps, uncritical support for Israel, de facto colonization of Iraq, this leads to the creation of a West Bank stretching from Morocco to the southern Phillipines. We will be defeated, using those methods. We will have a Waterloo, a Dien Bien Phu, a Hue. Napolean won rounds 1 through 8, but was knocked out in round 9, thinking exactly the way NeoCons think: hubris, unilateralism, overreach.
