Look @ the BLS stats I posted. The truth is, the banks don't have the $6 Trillion required to cover the "value" of the derivatives that they have, should they go bad. It has almost doubled in the past half-year! That's the real value, not notional. Kind of like the difference between how much your option costs and the strike price. And the growth of real values of these derivatives has been huge in the past 6 months prior to the BIS report (January?). If this trend continues, the BK will come pretty soon, especially if rates move up.
