Too bad he didn't hear the "Snake Dance"

(Start music)

On her way to work one mornin down the path alongside the lake,
A timson-hearted woman saw a poor half-frozen snake.
His pretty-colored skin had been all frosted with the dew,
"Poor thing," she cried, "I'll take you in and i'll take care of you."

Chorus:
"Take me in, tender woman,
Take me in for heaven's sake
Take me in tender woman,"
Said the snake.

Maggie:
What happened after that?

She wrapped him up all cozy in her comforter of silk,
And laid him by her fireside with honey and some milk.
She hurried home from work that night and as soon as she arrived,
She found that pretty snake she'd taken in had been revived.

Chorus

She clutched him to her bosom, "You're so beautiful," she cried,
"But if i hadn't brought you in, by now you might have died."
She stroked his pretty skin again and kissed and held him tight.
Instead of saying thanks, the snake gave her a vicious bite.

"Take me in tender woman," sighed the snake.

"I saved you," cried the woman, "and you bit me, but why?
You know your bite is poisonous and now i'm gonna die."
"Oh shut up you silly woman," said the reptile with a grin,
"You knew damn well i was a snake before you took me in."

Chorus

Here is a Vanessa William recording of it with lyrics.

Vanessa Williams
Star Bright (1996)
Baby It's Cold Outside

I really can't stay, (Baby, it's cold outside)
I've got to go 'way, (Baby, it's cold outside)
The evening has been, so very nice
(I hold your hands, there just like ice)

My mother will start to worry
and father will be pacin' the floor
So really I'd better scurry
well maybe just a half a drink more

The neighbours might think, (Baby, it's bad out there)
Say, what's in this drink, (No caps to be had out there)
I wish I knew how, to break the spell

I ought to say, no, no, no sir
at least I'm gonna say that I tried
I really can't stay, outthere it's cold outside

I simply must go, (Baby, it's cold outside)
The answer is no, (Uhh, Baby, it's cold outside)
The welcome has been, so nice and warm
(Look out the window at that storm)

My sister will be suspicious
My brother will be there at the door
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious
well mabe just a half a drink more

I've got to get home, (Baby, you'll freeze outthere)
Say lend me a comb, (It's up to your knees outthere)
You've really been grand, but don't you see
(How can you do this thing to me)

There's bound to be talk tomorrow
at least there will be plenty implied
I really can't stay, outthere it's cold outside

Baby, it's cold outside

I was born towards the end of 1952 so don't recall 1949 at all. Nevertheless, my impression is that female sexuality was a lot more stylized and overt - within norms - during the era than afterwards.

Everybody knew that sex existed but sex hadn't become an ordinary part of life.

So one had hypersexualized women running around pretending to be normal women (normal is Debbie Reynolds - sexualized is Elizabeth Taylor - hypersexualized is Marilyn Monroe - superhypersexualized is Jayne Mansfield).
