Sigh.

Do we have to go over this again?

McCarthyism was wrong because it was government acting.

If distributors choose to withhold a film for any reason, or no reason, that's their free choice. They have free speech as much as you or I do. Why do you think you have any right to deny them the right to speak or not to speak in any way they want to? That's YOU trying to curtail THEIR freedom and rights for your political purposes.

Speech has consequences. You're entitled to say what you want to (with minimal limits), but I'm entitled to react to it in any way I choose to, including if I don't like what you said not going to see your movie, not buying groceries at your store, or, conversely, if I like what you say, making a special effort to sit through your movie even if it sucks, or switching over to your store.

Government has no right using its power to censor or control speech (with, of course, some limits such as preventing you from disclosing war plans, fire in theaters, etc.) But the idea that people should be able to say whatever they want to without consequences from other individuals is totally, utterly, completely false.
