A lengthy proof of the assertion that democracy is the worst possible form of government except for all the alternatives. No one can point to a country of any size that generated equitable economic prosperity under an authoritarian regime. The nondemocratic leaders simply misdirect the economy in the same fashion as competing democratic elites.

Then they shoot anyone who disagrees. Not very efficient in a market sense.
